Omar D. Hussamy, MD
Omar David Hussamy, MD, PA, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who provides exceptional care for people of all ages at his private practice in Vero Beach, Florida. With over 25 years of experience, he’s the only orthopedic surgeon in South Florida with fellowship training in sports and hand procedures.
Dr. Hussamy graduated with honors from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, where he received a Bachelor of Science in physiology. He earned the prestigious MB, BChir medical degree from the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, England, and a medical degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
After medical school, Dr. Hussamy completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He then returned to the University of Virginia to complete a fellowship in sports medicine and hand surgery. This included primary and revision total knee and shoulder arthroplasty in addition to hand and upper extremity surgery.
Dr. Hussamy’s skills and expertise are recognized by numerous professional organizations. He’s a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and was elected as a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is also an authority in medical research, having published numerous articles in respected peer-reviewed journals.
In his private practice, Dr. Hussamy performs a variety of state-of-the-art procedures, including arthroscopic surgery of all joints, ACL surgery, rotator cuff repair, total shoulder replacement, wrist and hand surgery, total hip and knee replacements, bunion surgery and non-operative orthopedics including fracture care. He was the first orthopedic surgeon in Indian River County to perform MAKOplasty® robotic partial knee and total hip replacement surgery.
Outside of his private practice, Dr. Hussamy is an independent medical examiner certified by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners and an expert medical advisor for the Florida Department of Workers’ Compensation.
